The Hill Country of Texas never runs a shortage of festivals during the cooler months of Autumn, and Mystic Quarry is the ideal basecamp for your festival fun.
Fall Is Here And ‘F’ Is For Festival
Gruene Music & Wine Festival + Craft Beer Event
Mystic Quarry Autumn Fest
Let the fun continue right here at Mystic Quarry during our very own Autumn Fest event on Saturday, October 26th. Be sure to show up in your Halloween costume and enjoy music from The Chris Cuevas Project. There will be special kid events and costume contest for young, old and four-legged guests, plus the main attraction -- a haunted forest and pavilion. Road Dogs of New Braunfels will be at Mystic Quarry to provide food for the evening. Mystic Quarry will be selling beer, wine and sodas. The festival is free and open to the public.
We are booked in our indoor accommodations, but we do have plenty of RV sites available. Sorry, no tent campers this weekend since the tent camping area will become the haunted forest.
Finally, come stay with us for the for the best, can’t miss festival, Wurstfest in New Braunfels, November 1st– 10th.
Wurstfest began in 1961 as a simple celebration of sausage and has grown to attract thousands of visitors a day to its very own year-round festival grounds. Visitors will experience a true Bavarian-inspired event with great food offerings – all things potato and sausage, yum!, live polka music and instant friends. You can even compete at Masskrugsstemmen or beer stein hoisting. Just hold a stein full of beer in your outstretched arm longer than everyone else and viola – you win!
We offer shuttle service to and from these festivals so you can have a worry-free good time.
Your Winter Home is Right Here @ Mystic Quarry
Winter Texans will soon make their way to their home away from home in Texas. Don’t miss your chance to be part of the fun.
Last year, our Winter Texans took many trips around central Texas including a trip to Hamilton Pool Preserve - a great place to visit while staying @ Mystic Quarry. Hamilton Pool offers a guided, hour-long hike where you will learn about the area’s indigenous people, settlers, and the local flora and fauna. A large pool and a 50-foot waterfall made by a collapsed grotto is a geographical wonder.
Meet our Winter Hosts - Kevin and Cheryl Johnson
Kevin and Cheryl Johnson hail from Nebraska but spend a lot of time on their boat at Lewis and Clark Lake in South Dakota during the summer months. Once late Fall arrives, these two adventurers head to Texas to host the Mystic Quarry Winter Texans.
Cheryl never lets a day go by without ensuring there is some Winter Texan fun on the calendar. Holidays, birthdays, and every day in between there will be an opportunity to gather and celebrate the freedom of being on an extended vacation away from the cold.
Kevin keeps up with Cheryl (just barely) while spending time on resort projects or some of his favorite hobbies. Kevin is an avid sailor, miniature train operator, remote airplane pilot, and cyclist. He can also pour a nice cold beer when happy hour comes around on Friday evenings.
Check out our Winter Texan section on our website for pricing and last year's Winter Texan Calendar - look for an updated calendar in November. We have a very active group - coffee every morning, pot lucks monthly, happy hours on Friday + Dancing ...

Please call us at 830-964-3330 for dates, rates and availability.
Mystic Quarry is surrounded by the amazing geology and has wonderful ways to learn about our natural world. Autumn is a great time to plan a family outing that involves a dose of exploration and discovery.
Start your day with a guided hike through Canyon Lake Gorge, a real-life classroom with opportunity to explore dinosaur tracks and perfectly preserved fossils. The gorge was formed in 2002 with catastrophic flood waters that exposed layers of ancient, cretaceous limestone.
Only 30 minutes away, Natural Bridge Caverns is one of the largest caverns in the state of Texas and offers several different guided cave tours showcasing the caverns unique formations. Natural Bridge Cavern also offers family-fun “surface” activities like zipline and rope courses.
Once you are done scrambling over rocks and spelunking in caves, take a stroll along the water’s edge in Wimberley at the Blue Hole Regional Park or at the Canyon Lake Dam. While you enjoy the shade and rustle of the trees, notice the way water shapes our landscape and we harness its power.
Two-Wheeling in the Hill Country
Whether you ride skinny or fat tire, we have a place to ride. Autumn is a perfect time to plan an epic ride through the Texas Hill Country.
And, Mystic Quarry is a perfect place to stay while you explore day trips like River Road or conquer the entire the Texas Hill Country Loop, a 300+ mile ride mapped out by the U.S. Bicycle Route System. Mountain bike enthusiasts have options too with intermediate to difficult trails nearby. The Madrone Trail promises plenty of rocks, hops and views of Canyon Lake and Purgatory Creek Natural Area has a nice mix of routes including Dante’s trail.
Now you just need to put on the bike rack and head out to see us.
With a tipi and camp chairs as the backdrop, models strutted down the runway showing off clothing from up-and-coming designers in the San Antonio area. Guests at the event had the chance to snap photos in our retro campground scene, complete with a canoe, campfire and smores. It was a unique opportunity to experience a fusion of art from indoor and out.
We hope you will be able to spend time with us here at Mystic Quarry and enjoy the many activities around the local area to make your stay fun-filled and memorable.
We like to think of Mystic Quarry as a microcosm of the qualities you want in a community: friendship, family and good memories tucked in a vibrant landscape!
