“Summertime is always the best of what might be.” -Charles Bowden

The 2018/19 school year is coming to an end, summer is right around the corner and vacation season has already begun - we are looking forward to a great summer at Mystic Quarry. With the abundance of rain we’ve had in the area, the river is full and flowing great and the lake looks amazing! Mystic Quarry is just a short trek away from both the Guadalupe River and Canyon Lake. Our tiny homes, dog-friendly cottages, RV spots and tent camping are ready for you to come and enjoy a relaxing or event filled stay.

Check out our Blog for previous Newsletter and Information about the Canyon Lake area and of course, Mystic Quarry.

canoeing the Mystic Pond

Not quite Lewis and Clark, but how cool are these two adventurers paddling on the Mystic Quarry pond!? The rains have filled up our ephemeral stream and pond so these young campers decided to seize the opportunity to kayak where no one has kayaked before...very cool!

As part of Pints-n-Pups, we are hosting some craft breweries that plan to offer some very good and unique beer: Aqua-Brew out of San Marcos along with Texas Beer Company out of Taylor, 5 Stones Artisan Brewery, and Guadalupe Brewing Company. Two Tons of Steel will headline the event and Robert Cannon Music will kick off and close what will be an unforgettable event. Tipsy Cow Ice Cream, Road Dogs gourmet hot dogs, Remarkable K-9 dog trainer and Newberry Landscaping and more will be vending.

Make it a full weekend of music with Loyd Bonham Band playing at Mystic Quarry on May 31st, followed by Two Tons of Steel and Robert Cannon Music playing from 1:30 to 6:30 pm on June 1st at Mystic Quarry and then Billy Currington headlining at Whitewater Amphitheater on Saturday evening.

“Music Under the Stars”

Mystic Quarry provides live music to our guests for free from Memorial Day to Labor Day (typically on Friday nights and opposite the days Whitewater has live music). In June, the 'Music Under the Stars' series kicks off with The Chris Cuevas Project June 14, Big State June 21 and Brad Boyer finishing up the month on June 28.

All four bands put on a great show with each demonstrating their own style of blues, soul, country and of course, good old rock n’ roll. Bands start playing around 7:30pm under the arbor so feel free to bring a chair, a cooler and a free spirit ready for fun. Check out our Mystic Quarry Facebook Event Page for the Mystic Quarry "Music Under the Stars" Summer Series line-up, dates and times.

Hey Chick Chick!

We had a sweet surprise one afternoon when one of our hens emerged from the woods with eight fluffy chicks in her wake. We hadn’t seen her for about a month and thought she was "gone forever". Thankfully we were wrong! This fierce Mama is very protective of her babies and is always teaching them where the good bugs, worms and seeds are located. We’ve enjoyed watching them grow and learn. While not hiding in the woods hatching eggs, our other girls are laying daily giving us plenty of tasty eggs to eat and share.
