How to Best Prepare for Your Summer Glamping Trip

Lovers of the outdoors and luxurious environments rejoice; glamping season is upon us! Whether you are seeking the tranquility of the natural world or wanting to experience the unique accommodations, glamping in Texas is a great way to enjoy the outdoors in style.

Glamping is all the fun of camping without the extra work. There is no need to buy or set up your own gear, you can enjoy plush beds, hot showers, indoor plumbing, and you can still be immersed in the beauty of nature while still having the comforts of home.

To best prepare for your summer glamping trip, there are a couple of things to keep in mind when packing: clothing, shoes, accessories, gear, and entertainment.

Clothing:

  • If you're glamping in the Texas summer, make sure to pack light, breezy clothing. Shorts, t-shirts, tank tops, and swimsuits are a must to beat the heat and participate in water activities.

Shoes:

  • Glamping means you can pack all that you need. Of course, that means packing shoes for different activities: Trail shoes for outdoor activities, and sandals for the water and beach. You may even consider bringing water shoes if you're planning on exploring the river or Canyon Lake – both less than 1 mile from Mystic Quarry.

Accessories:

  • Since you'll likely be outside during your stay, make sure to bring sunglasses and a hat to protect your face and eyes from the harsh UV rays.

Gear:

  • Bringing the right gear for your glamping trip is very important to ensure you stay comfortable. First, hydration is key! Pack a refillable water bottle to stay hydrated on those hot days. A daypack is also recommended if you're planning on exploring the vast areas to explore on or off the MQ property; it can be used to hold your water bottle, jackets, towels, and bathing suits. Sunscreen and bug repellant will keep you comfortable and prevent all your burns and bites.

Entertainment:

  • Don't forget those playing cards, books, and board games for nighttime entertainment. If you forget them, MQ has a library full of books along with a recreation hall with games and playing cards. While our glamping tipis come with TV's, many glampers use their trip to "unplug" and unwind.

About Mystic Quarry:

Located between Austin and San Antonio, Mystic Quarry is a modern Texas campground nestled between the Guadalupe River and Canyon Lake. The area is known as the water recreation capital of Texas.

For music lovers, Whitewater Amphitheater is only half of a mile away. Known as a popular venue for nationally renowned country and contemporary musicians, we recommend checking the schedule when planning your trip and experiencing this live music venue for yourself. Mystic Quarry offers a round trip shuttle with on-demand pickup to take you to and from your campsite and the amphitheater for only $10 per person.

Also, beginning Memorial Day through Labor Day, Mystic Quarry offers free live music to our guests every weekend – typically Friday nights and opposite the Whitewater Amphitheater concerts – from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm. You can sit in the pool, play bocce ball, sit on your tiny house deck or just hang out in grassy area surrounding the stage to enjoy the live music.

Mystic Quarry provides all levels of camping, giving you the ability to choose the style the perfectly suits your needs. If you need more than thin fabric and a zipper separating you from the crickets and animal nightlife, tiny houses, glamping tipis, and dog-friendly cottages may be the right choice for you. You can experience the high life while still getting your nature fix. The accommodations at Mystic Quarry pamper you with stylish urban living all while still surrounding you with the natural and beautiful outdoors.

Search no further for your glamping needs. Mystic Quarry offers it all: a general store, rooftop deck for sunset parties, bathhouses, laundry, free WiFi, pool and natural trails. Within an easy distance, for your enjoyment, are wineries, breweries, and distilleries. You even have the option to rent a golf cart.

Courtney and Jim Trent, the creators of Mystic Quarry say it best, "We designed Mystic Quarry to appeal to those for whom posh accommodations are the greatest form of escape. Some people like to call it glamping, and that's okay with us."
